A modular approach allowed us to create multiple effects, or ‘patches’, which could then be streamed live into Resolume VJ software. Each patch was parameterised, and could be run on any combination of live or canned footage. We developed an interface to allow for hot swapping and saving of patches to ensure freedom to explore and then save any permutation of the performance. In LA, we worked with Timeboy to develop the specific permutations of patches during a brief live rehearsal session.

We also added the ability for Steve Lacy to trigger moments of visual crescendo live on stage with a custom pedal setup. To allow for rapid and repeated stage setup on the tour across Australia, New Zealand and Japan, we designed a rugged and modular on-stage housing to direct all of the custom depth camera and pedal information back to the VJ desk over fibre optics with minimal setup.
